For your information.

The National Park Service, National Capital Region Sustainability Team has
just been informed that we are the recipients of the 2003 White House
Closing the Circle Award under the category of Education and Outreach.
Our winning project, a Sustainability Fair was held on the National Mall
on May 3 and May 4, 2002. The theme of the Fair, " Sustaining America's
Special Places -- Your Parks, Your Communities" focused on fostering
partnerships with community organizations and community activists, local
and state governments, and the local business community to lessen
perceptions that sustainability is an "institutional" activity. The goal
of the event was to redirect emphasis toward individual involvement and
provided inspiration for making sound choices in the community through
environmental leadership programs and organizations. The Sustainability
Team developed 12, 8'x4' high quality multimedia and educational graphic
panels for display at the Fair. The graphic panels highlight various
topics on sustainable practices underway within the Parks throughout the
National Capital Region along with information about our environmental
partners.
