Professor Tim Beatley


Professor Tim Beatley, University of Virginia, will share his research and work on innovative ecological urban planning ideas, concepts and practices in the United States and around the world, and how these concepts fit into present regional planning efforts here in the Washington, DC region. Dr. Beatley will share observations of trends and factors that have undermined urban ecologies in the United States and discuss compelling visions and innovative approaches for healing urban environments.

Timothy Beatley is the Theresa Heinz Professor of Sustainable Communities at the University of Virginia. His books include An Introduction to Coastal Zone Management (1994), The Ecology of Place (1997), and Green Urbanism (2000).
