Parkways of the National Capital Region
Dear Colleagues,
Timothy Davis, Ph.D., Lead Historian of the Park Historic Structures & Cultural Landscapes Program of the U.S. National Park Service in Washington, DC., will speak on "Parkways of the National Capital Region" at an upcoming Metropolitan Washington, DC Green Infrastructure Forum. The forum will be held at The Lyceum at 201 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA. on Thursday June 22, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Tim's writing on the American cultural landscape has appeared in many books and periodicals including Highways in Harmony and America's Parkways and Park Roads: Drawings from the Historic American Engineering Record. He will discuss the history of George Washington Memorial Parkway, Rock Creek & Potomac Parkway, Baltimore-Washington Parkway and their role in the development of the National Capital Region.

This forum, which is sponsored by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Community Forestry Network and the Greater Washington National Parks of the National Park Service (NPS), is one of a series of Green Infrastructure Forums and Workshops designed to discuss park, forest cover, open space and recreation land management approaches within the metropolitan Washington region.
